DB BR 140

From recording to editing & implementing. This was a really fun loco to make an impact on!

What have I done?

The best part of all of this was going on the recording trip!
I was sent on a solo trip to Bremen, Germany where I met one of our German QA testers who was going to act as my translator for the day.

We had the fortune of riding in the cab with the driver, which was an amazing experience! It certainly helped provide valuable context of how and when sounds were triggering as we were able to ask the driver there & then, what's that sound? What makes that trigger? etc. Very valuable information.

We rode all the way from Bremen to Emden & back. Stopping a few times to move the loco to the other end of the formation, as we were pulling freight!
We took these opportunies to record things like the whistle & compressor.

Here's what made it in-game from the recording trip:

  • Whistle (Internal & External)

  • Compressor (Internal & External)

  • Traction blower

  • Tap changer wheel

  • Internal running

  • Internal joints

  • Internal flange rumble

  • Brake rub (Internal & External)

  • Cab deactivation buzzer

  • SIFA Alarm

  • PZB Alarm

  • Transformer Buzz

I'm very pleased to hear people are enjoying the sounds, especially the whistle & internal running with that lovely rumble when you start moving.
